AN EVENT FOR CHARACTERS ‘N COSTUMES BENEFITING THE
National Center for Children’s Illustrated Literature

King Joe and Queen Kaye Price-Hawkins request the attendance of all passionate patrons of literature and the arts, to gather for the 3rd annual Storybook Ball at the National Center for Children’s Illustrated Literature (NCCIL). On October 13th, loyal subjects will gather, garbed in their best storybook finery, to dine and dance among the kingdom’s exhibition of original works of art.
The King and Queen have requested that all Storybook Ball guests attend dressed as their favorite storybook character. In keeping with the royal couple’s love for books and good order, a program of the evening’s activities has been decreed:
- Chapter One: The Grand Entry
- Chapter Two: A Review of the Kingdom’s Collection and silent auction
- Chapter Three: Dining with the King and Queen in the NCCIL Gallery
- Chapter Four: Dancing with the Prince at the Elks Ballroom
The King has proclaimed that all proceeds from the Storybook Ball will benefit the kingdom of the National Center for Children’s Illustrated Literature which inspires children to read by showcasing and touring collections of original illustrations from children’s picture books! This event is the only major fundraiser for the NCCIL. Costumed attendees made last year’s ball a rousing success and we hope to continue the community’s involvement in the activities at the NCCIL.
The board of directors and staff are committed to providing children and families with unique and ongoing opportunities to engage in the enriching world of children’s literature and illustration. These activities and admission to the NCCIL are always free of charge.
The NCCIL is a truly remarkable institution, and your support is vital to our ongoing efforts to remain a premier venue for children’s illustration artwork.
