You can share your knowledge and love of children’s picture books with visitors of the NCCIL. With guidance from staff experts, our more than volunteers help with NCCIL knowledge, guide tours, give gallery talks, offer fun hands-on experiences, and more. You’ll meet people of all ages from across the U.S. and around the world and help them make memories of a lifetime.

Various volunteer opportunities include: 

  • Greeting and recording number of visitors 

  • Preparing materials for school tours 

  • Assisting with programming – this may include leading tours and facilitating art activities 

  • Reading for a story time  

  • Art Walk (2nd Thursday of the month) 

  • Family Fun Saturday (Saturdays, 10 am-1 pm) 

  • CALF (2nd weekend of June)
